The Airtel technician came to see me yesterday, after my numerous complaints and one of them being that I know someone who knows Mr. Sunil Mittal very well. In actual fact, I do know this somebody who is the Chairman of a big IT company. That seemed to have worked.

Well, he came and checked the signal readings at various spots in the layout including in various rooms inside my flat.

He admitted that there were weak signal zones and said he'd report this matter to the technical department and have something done about it.

Apparently the tower nodes need some setting changes and hopefully, things should get better. As it is there seems to be marked improvement in connectivity and whatever little bit is faulty will get rectified soon.

BWSSB AE's visit
Friday, January 08, 2010

Greetings everyone,

New Year seems to have begun well for our layout, except when Batman flew over the Cuckoo's nest.

First comes the letter from BBMP stating their willingness to takeover our layout provided we clear the BESCOM dues. One bill has been paid and the second one will also be paid soon. That done, its a matter of chasing and getting the required documents and submitting them to the BBMP.

Today, the BWSSB AE came by and we interacted with him on the process, formalities etc.

It was an official inspection by him and he enlightened us on the process and procedures. A more detailed note will be prepared and given to me by Raghu and I'll circulate this shortly.

The shocking aspect is that KLS-3, KLS-4, KLS-5 will be in deep trouble, in particular KLS-4.

BWSSB will calculate the total built-up area of the building and work out the amount that has to be paid to them (less the deposit supposedly paid by Arun Kumar to BWSSB on production of the receipt).

For KLS-4, I have no idea but I understand it could run into lakhs.

Now, who is going to pay for 12 flats belonging to Wajid Pasha? We have to because BWSSB will go by a building and not individual apartments.

So, KLS-4 and KLS-5 will be funding Wajid Pasha's flats. And when Akrama-Sakrama comes, its a double whammy (where's the low-cost housing in all this, I can't see).

So, while some are worried about the lift AMC look at the "bigger picture" - or shall I say the "deeper cut" that's going to bleed us all.

AIRTEL Connectivity Improves
Friday, December 25, 2009

I'm sitting and working in my Home Office and I see 4 bars on my mobile phone where none used to exist till yesterday. Mobile phone connectivity has improved, and let me tell you how and why.

A month ago, two AIRTEL chaps came to my flat and asked that they be given permission to activate Broadband services in our layout.

I said "nothing doing". First of all, they must improve mobile phone connectivity and only then they can brng in broadband.

They approached their Zonal Manager and explained the issue. He promptly gave the go-ahead to instal a booster at the tower they have on top of Mahaveer Jade (next to Udaya Stores).

These same chaps came and met me yesterday and asked me to check the connectivity and I said 'Wow'! The mobile phone actually worked from locations where it didn't earlier.

I'm not sure, but I think most phones in the layout having AIRTEL may find a change.

Please let me know if you have issues; I can contact the Zonal Manager and report the matter to him.

Meeting with Jt. Commissioner, BBMP
Friday, December 25, 2009

Mr. Babu, Mr. Ramesh, Yashwanth and I met the BBMP Bommanahalli Joint Commissioner Mr. Shivabasavaiah at the BBMP office yesterday. We put forth to him the issues we faced regarding the BESCOM bill and he was of the view that BBMP will do something in this regard.

He was non-commital initially, but since Mr. Ramesh had being pursuing the matter vigorously the last few weeks and also to the fact that Mr. Satish Reddy had spoken to him on 2 occasions in our presence (Yashwanth ad I last met him on Tuesday 22nd) he sort of admitted that he was in agreement to the proposal made to him.

In all probabilities we will be paying the bills on Wednesday 30th Dec.

Meanwhile, an inspection will be made by BESCOM to check the existing poles in the layout and if any more are required; check the existing light fittings and their funcionalities, etc.

We have the assurance of all three - Satish Reddy, Ramesh and the Jt. Commissioner BBMP that our layout issues will be resolved sooner than later.

VOTER ID
Thursday, December 17, 2009

For all those who don not yet have a Voter ID, please collect the forms from me (G-4 KLS-4). It is important that all from our layout have voter cards because we need Satish Reddy's help in future and he needs your votes. It's as simple as that!

I met Satish Reddy Today
Thursday, December 17, 2009

I, alongwith Babu and Rajagopalan of Lakecity, met Satish Reddy this morning. Satish Reddy asked me what progress has been made. I told him that Mr. Ramesh has collected the BESCOM bills (which I downloaded from the BESCOM website) and we were awaiting further news. I also informed him that we have collected a fair amount of money. At once, he called Ramesh and then the Chief Engineer Mr. M.M Saalia and told him to expedite the matter. Apparently, he has also spoken to the BESCOM Commissioner in this regard. Now, Mr. Ramesh has to bring the AE and JE for a discussion and inspection of the layout which I think will happen probably by tomorrow. From the urgency that Satish Reddy spelled out to the BESCOM officials I'm optimistic that in the next 4-5 days the matter will be resolved, unless some other unforseen issues crop up. In which case I will meet Satish Reddy again.

Fantastic Response
Monday, December 14, 2009

The response to the BESCOM FUND has been phenomenal. I don't want to make the figure public now, but when I reveal it, you'll be amazed. Just goes to show how collective efforts can bear fruit. We now await a call from the BBMP candidate and then we take this forward. Yashwanth and I have decided that in the event of the BBMP candidate not responding today, we'll go across and meet Satish Reddy again. Venkatesh Bhat and Purohit came to my place last night and handed over the promised amount of 28,000/- collected from KLS-3. Excellent work done, Bhat and Purohit. Really appreciate your commitment. I'll keep you posted as and when any new development takes place.

Luxury Layout?
Friday, December 11, 2009

Can Lakeview Residency transform itself to a 'high-end' layout? Well, not really. Certainly not luxurious with amenities like swimming pool, club house and all that jazz.

And yet it can, to a lesser extent. Good roads, street lights, hygienic surroundings and with all civic amenities in place.

It's a dream that's attainable only if all residents can get together to work towards its fulfillment. The collective effort to tackle the BESCOM issue demonstrated that we have it within us to achieve this objective.

Something to think about!

Collections for BESCOM FUND
Thursday, December 10, 2009

Good response is coming in and so is the money. However, apart from a few independent houses, majority of them haven't paid. I see a lack of persuasion or perhaps they have not been contacted at all. Those incharge of collecting money from independent houses are requested to step-up their collection drive.

Meeting with Mr. Ramesh - BBMP elections
Thursday, December 10, 2009

Mr. Ramesh's wife is contesting the forthcoming BBMP elections and he visited our layout yesterday evening.

We had a meeting at my place and those present included: Venkatesh Bhat and Purohit (KLS-3), Haridas and Sunil (KLS-2), Krishnamurthy (KLS-1), Yashwanth, Narendra Kumar and myself (KLS-4), Babu and Rajagopalan (Lakecity).

Babu, on our behalf, sort of chaired the meeting and explained to Ramesh the issues we face. He has promised to help and in the next day or two we should be able to clear the BESCOM arrears and from then onwards, we'd take the matter forward with the ultimate objective being to appeal to BBMP to takeover our layout.

Mr. Ramesh has offered to provide all help in doing so and all he asks in return is that we vote for his wife for the Corporator's post.

We are arranging to get the latest BESCOM bill and once we get that, we will call Ramesh and then probably go and pay up the arrears.

The next step would be to collect the necessary documents required by BBMP and seek Satish Reddy's or Ramesh's help in putting forth our application for the takeover.

BWSSB
Wednesday, December 09, 2009

Mr. Babu of Lakecity came to my place yesterday evening and he made one thing very clear - if you miss the BWSSB bus this time, there is no next bus.
If the crtiticality of the situation hasn't dawned on people yet, one hopes it does now.
Deposit receipts are definitely required to be produced to the BWSSB authorities without which the connection will not be given.
In all probabilities, the connections will be given soon and Cauvery water will flow into the layout before Sankranti. It must be realised that since BBMP elections have been announced, the Code of Conduct comes into effect from 15th Jan 2010. Hence, whatever needs to be done should be done before that or else, things will have to wait till end Feb.
If you haven't contacted URS for the deposit receipt, I suggest you give this priority.

Meeting with Satish Reddy
Wednesday, December 09, 2009

We met Satish Reddy this morning and he has instructed his liasion person to meet me this evening to discuss the BESCOM bill payment. The indiactions are that we should have the street lights burning soon. I have a total of 33,000/- cash in hand and with money to come in from KLS1, KLS,3 and KLS-5, we should be comfortably off. But we need to collect money from all because we will have to pay up as much as we can collect and also have some extra for bribes, miscellaneous costs, etc. The latest updates will be posted here soon.

Collection Status

Close to 30,000/- in cash has been collected. KLS-5 have collected 13,000/- - a similar amount to what KLS-2 collected and paid. In the next few days we should have much more and I'll let you all know the figure.
